A 34-year-old pedestrian has died after he was struck by vehicles on the M4 near Bridgend, police have said.
The motorway has been shut in both directions between junctions 34 at Miskin and 35 at Pencoed following the incident at about 05:45 GMT.
His family are being supported by specialist officers, said South Wales Police.
The force is advising motorists to use alternative routes.
Sgt Huw O’Connell, from the force’s collision investigation unit, appealed for witnesses travelling between junction 34 and 35 to get in touch.
